(#2) writing? identity? wridentity! 🥑
if a two-thousand-year-old concept can establish a brand, so can you.
The Olympic Games have been around for a hot minute.
They’ve been an official thing for 125 years and a concept since ancient Greece.
And it’s not like they’re struggling for recognition, as evidenced by everything everywhere all at once for the past few weeks.
Everyone knows what the five colored rings mean.
So why did they pay lots of money for a rebrand?
As they announced in 2021:
For 125 years, the Olympic Games have conveyed a message of inclusivity, universality and hope. It was time to bring together these timeless values in a comprehensive Olympic brand identity that is present not only during the Games, but also from flame to flame.
They have their keywords—“inclusivity, universality, and hope”—and they crafted lots of fancy new guidelines around those ideas.
Why does this matter to us?
Because, if you’re an author who wants to develop loyal readers…
You should write books that are unmistakably yours.
Your “brand” can mean a lot of things. But in the end, if I’m picking up one of your books, I know I’m going to get…
{What am I going to get from your books?}
We’ll talk about purpose, collaboration, and prose in the next few emails. For now, find your answer to this question:
What will readers get when they read your books?
Think about it. Write down some possible answers—emotions, experiences, styles…
And share this with an author friend who wants to be unmistakable in their writing as much as you do.
