Or "how to make consistent edits in a way that doesn't make your head explode"
This one’s for the authors making big story changes as they revise.
In other words, virtually all of us. From one of my clients:
The part that frustrates me the most is consistency after changes. For instance, if I make a really great/significant change, it will have ripple effects throughout the book that aren’t an easy search-and-find-fix. It takes combing through the whole manuscript to make sure I’ve located every ripple 😂
(Kayla is writing a stellar YA dystopian series with Norse vibes; check out the first two books, Well of Dreams and Tree of Ash!)
Tracking every detail of your story can be a herculean feat, especially if your story has heavy world building or an intricate cast of characters.
That’s why I’m excited to write about ripple effects using my favorite triple-threat framework: story, scenes, and sentences.
For stories, we’ll discuss how to track ideas across the narrative and prepare changes before you implement them.
For scenes, we’ll discuss how to audition ideas and redraft for consistency.
For sentences, we’ll discuss how to revise dialogue, action, and description with consistency across your manuscript.
And we’ll do all of that in bite-size emails…
Plus, I’ll send you the revision tracker template I created for my own stories!
